Educational Programs

Ovarian cancer historically has been dubbed a “Silent Killer”, because symptoms were thought not to develop until chance of a cure was poor. New studies, done between 2004 and 2007 show that certain symptoms are much more likely to occur in women with ovarian cancer than women in the general population. As part of our mission, we are dedicated to providing education on the Symptoms and Risk factors for ovarian cancer. We know the work we do saves lives!

Speakers Bureau: Need a motivational speaker on an important women’s health issue? A keynote speaker that can inspire women to learn about their health and take action? Contact us, whether you are a Rotary, Women’s Club, Service Organization or College Professor we will put together a program perfect for your needs.

Educators: The Ovarian Project as well has volunteers who will answer questions and distribute literature on the signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer at local Health Fairs, Community Events, and Conferences.

Legislative Advocacy: We work with local, state, and federal legislators to provide and communicate legislative issues important to the ovarian cancer community.

Awareness

Every cancer has a color, and for ovarian cancer it’s teal. September is the official designated ovarian cancer awareness month and we proudly make sure that we are shining a light on ovarian cancer throughout the month and all year long. We are proud to have been the first organization to light Niagara Falls in teal, 2013, 2014 and 2015, our efforts were recognized by our teal sisters around the world! Every year we ask our Local, State and Federal legislators to proclaim September Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, reminding them of the importance of working hard on every level to support funding for research and education on our disease. We also light the International Peace Bridge in teal, bringing awareness to both the United States and Canada. See our Events page for information and dates of our Awareness Events.
